Parent Information

We would like to welcome you, your child and your family to Millicent North Kindergarten.

We offer transition programs to the 3 local primary schools (Millicent North Primary School, Newbery Park Primary School and St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School). The children experience visits to these as well as visiting our local library, Hart Court and the Domain playground, just to name a few. With these connections, we have built strong relationships within our community and to the local schools.

We value your child’s learning and we wish them all the very best as they start their learning journey at Millicent North Kindergarten.

  • Advocate for children’s rights and individual needs creating a strong sense of wellbeing.
  • Support and scaffold children’s individual learning through positive educator modelling.

We believe and value

Children as individuals, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge, ideas and skills.

AS EDUCATORS WE WILL:

  • Acknowledge the family as the child’s first educator.
  • Meet the child where they are developmentally, and build upon their knowledge and dispositions for lifelong learning.
  • Plan for extending children’s individual interests.
  • Work collaboratively with children, families and other support agencies.

We believe and value

That children learn best through play

AS EDUCATORS WE WILL:

  • Provide children with experiences that are hands on, giving them opportunities to make choices, learn from each other and realise that making mistakes is part of the learning process.
  • Intentionally teach by creating provocations that invite exploration, promote higher order thinking, social interaction and motivation for future learning.

We believe and value

The environment as the third educator as it promotes wonder, curiosity and endless learning opportunities.

AS EDUCATORS WE WILL:

  • Provide a stimulating learning environment that provides open-ended opportunities for children to engage in risk taking and explore the world around them.
  • Promote respect for the environment through modelling sustainable practices.

We believe and value

Children as active participants in their community.

AS EDUCATORS WE WILL:

  • Create strong connections between our children, their families and the wider community.
